Exhibition | Digestive Ethics
(Still ongoing)

Curator: te editions
Hong Museum, Wenzhou
Janurary 17 to July 17, 2026

With food as the thematic anchor, Digestive Ethics examines the constant deviations taking place in our world. The exhibition stages a conversation on the contemporary food system between eleven artists and artist collectives with research backgrounds, exploring the alienation experienced by producers, consumers, and food alike, as well as the mechanics of displacement that subtly affect our senses and sensibilities. Through mediums such as video, installation, painting, and collage, the artists navigate the boundaries of oceans, forests, farmlands, and factories to trace an invisible food supply chain within the gallery. The exhibition foregrounds the apparatus of control that is omnipresent throughout gathering and industrial manufacturing. The search for the source of food is also an inquiry into labor: who has been sacrificed within this closed loop? Within the exhibition's framework, Wenzhou not only represents the process by which local experience is absorbed into a global system but also provides a means for contemplating material interests and ethics. The exhibition invites the audience to draw from their lived experience and to “chew” and “digest” anew, developing fresh perspectives on the complex relationships between food and life.

initial research, New York
September 16, 2025

Following the Printed Matter’s Art Book Fair, the event invited two Asian publishers to share their practices through talks and a workshop. In thinking about independent publishing in Asia today, te editions noticed that while each place is rooted in its own context, there are many shared concerns across contexts. These include how to navigate postcolonial legacies and censorship, and how to sustain production with limited resources and funding. Perhaps, one can glimpse something distinctive in Asian publishing through typography, paper choices, and printing methods, which reveal possibilities of their own. After participating in many international art book fairs, how do publishers from Asia understand their work in relation to the wider world?

Project | 食用方法 ways of eating post post, Beijing
July 8-22, 2022

The exhibition showcases a range of publications and artistic works related to food, exploring its various dimensions from a broad perspective. It will delve into the complex interactions between food and concepts such as geopolitics, cultural economics, and history. In April 2022, food, as a fundamental element of supply and demand, once again triggered a public crisis. As we reassess the foundational value of food, what perspectives should we adopt to understand the underlying complex factors? While guidelines on the “correct” methods and quantities for consumption are prescribed, the looming crisis compels us to seek independent paths for survival. Historical experiences have repeatedly underscored the importance of sharing, which is a key focus of this exhibition.

The exhibition shares:

• Publications about food and art
• COOKBOOK OF THE PANDEMIC YEAR (fruits jam and recipes made by Rania Ho, bread masks made by Pu Yingwei, needlework by Amiko Li)
• Video screenings (Safeguarding the Curry Burger by Elia Nurvista, and The Shape of Appetite (2017) by Tang Han & Zhou Xiaopeng)
• Special events (Kombucha adoption event by Peter Chan, and our Ukraine friend Dana cooked the local Borscht Soup. She shared the history about this cuisine, chatting about the fight of Borscht Soup between Russia and Ukraine.
